Throughout the campaign, I’ve been invited to respond to questions from community groups, local organisations, and advocacy bodies. I’ve shared my positions openly, and you can find all of those responses here.

Adelaide Park Lands Association

Q: When you hear Adelaide Park Lands, what comes to mind?

A: When I hear Adelaide Park Lands, I think of a defining feature of our city. Our parklands blend heritage, liveability, and culture. I see them as the backdrop to healthy lifestyles, inclusive recreation, city activation, and ecological richness. Our Park Lands are more than just open space, they are a living asset that should be protected, activated, and celebrated through thoughtful planning and community-driven stewardship.

Q: What are your views on the Malinauskas Government's takeover of Possum Park / Pirltawardli (Park 1) and John E Brown Park (Park 27A) for a golf course "redevelopment"?

A: I understand that the government’s intention with this redevelopment is to bring international events and investment into the city, and I can see the value in initiatives that attract visitors, create jobs, and boost Adelaide’s global reputation.

At the same time, I recognise that these are sensitive and historically significant areas, including culturally important Kaurna sites and valued green space that many in the community feel deeply connected to.

Any change to these areas must be carefully managed, with a strong focus on preserving their character, respecting cultural heritage, and ensuring they remain accessible, open, and welcoming for all South Australians to enjoy.

Q: What future land uses would you support within the Park Lands? (e.g. informal recreation, amateur sport, professional sport, cultural festivals, institutional, educational, tourism?)

A: I believe that use of the Park Lands should be reviewed and assessed against a clear framework that reflects what we, as a city, decide the Park Lands should be governed by. I support uses that encourage people to enjoy the space, and that must be balanced with the need to preserve the ecological, historical, and open character of the Park Lands. Sustainable use is key. That means supporting activities that foster public engagement without compromising the integrity of the Park Lands in the long term.

Q: What kind of new buildings would you support within the Park Lands? (e.g.clubrooms, kiosk, schools, storage sheds, function centres etc)

A: Any structure must respect the open, green character of the Park Lands and meet strong criteria around community need, environmental impact, and long-term responsibility

Q: What kind of new private commercial developments would you support in the Park Lands, if at all? (e.g. hotel, gymnasium, office building, residential, retail, innovation hub?)

A: As with any use of the Park Lands, private or commercial developments must be assessed against a clear, transparent framework that puts public value, environmental integrity, and long-term preservation at the centre. So rather than listing ‘acceptable’ developments in isolation, I would prefer to see each one judged on its merit, scale, and alignment with the values we set as a city.

Q: Do you support World Heritage listing of the Adelaide Park Lands?

A: What we have is special. The Park Lands are unique, not just in their design, but in how they shape the character and liveability of our city. I am supportive of recognising and celebrating that significance. World Heritage listing is one pathway, and I am open to exploring it.
